O Le Corbuserovi bych mohla napsat mnoho stránek, ale to by Vás asi nebavilo číst. Takže jen ve stručnosti. Spousta článků o něm a o jeho stavbách lze najít na internetu.
Le Corbusier původním jménem Charles-Édouard Jeanneret, se narodil roku 1887 ve Švýcarsku a zemřel v roce 1965 ve Francii. Vyučil se rytcem, ale jeho učitel ho přivedl k architektuře. Svoji první stavbu realizoval v 17 letech, později se ale od jeho prvotních staveb distancoval. Na druhou stranu díky realizaci několika staveb na začátku kariéry, mohl cestovat. Navštívil dokonce i Prahu. Na cestách, které trvaly od roku 1907 do 1914, poznával a kreslil architekturu, byl samouk. V roce 1914 začal pracovat v ateliéru bratrů Perretových, kde se pracovalo s železobetonem. Od té doby jeho stavby byly funkcionalistické, i když jeho stavby nelze zařadit pouze do jednoho stylu. Jeho jméno Le Corbusier vzniklo, když psal pod tímto pesudonymem do časipisu L´Esprit nouveau, kterého byl spoluzakladatelem. Mezi jeho nejdůležitější knihy patří: Vers une architecture, Urbanisme, La Ville radiense, Aircraft a další. Například v letech 1914 -1915 vytvořil projekt Dom-Ino pro obyvatele Flander. Projekt nebyl realizován, ale skeletová konstrukce, byla obrazem nového stylu - Funkcionalismu.
Le Corbusier postavil 75 jednotlivých staveb ve 12 zemích, vypracoval 42 významných plánů městské výstavby, zanechal 8000 kreseb, více než 400 maleb, 44 skulptur a 27 návrhů gobelínů. Dále napsal 34 knih, stovky článků a přednášek.
Le Corbusier ovlivnil moderní architekturu 20. století, byl architektem, urbanistou, teoretikem a malířem.
Kdybych měla vybrat jen tři stavby, které se mi líbí nejvíce, tak jsou to tyto: Vila Savoye - Poissy ve Francii, Unit´d´habitation v Marseille, Francii a Kostel Notre-Dame-du Haut v Ronchamp ve Francii (zde jsem i byla).
